Rec Center employees are provided with a unique opportunity to join the Recreation and Leadership Council (RLC), a student organization whose mission is to provide members with quality leadership, networking and professional development opportunities both in and out of the Rec Center.
The organization is dedicated to getting employees involved in their workplace. It also provides members with the opportunity to host philanthropic events, network with professionals, gain professional development and connect with coworkers.
“RLC offers many opportunities to get involved at the Rec Center and make lifelong connections,” the organization’s president, Annmarie Eovaldi, said. “RLC allows students to build a professional and personal relationship between their coworkers and supervisors, as well as get involved in their school’s community.”
The organization accomplishes these missions by participating in community charities like volunteering at and collecting food for the Baldwin Center and adopting a family during the holiday season. RLC also funds and provides opportunities for employees to attend regional and national recreation conferences.
According to Eovaldi, RLC currently has about 20 members, and new members are always welcome. Rec Center employees can join by participating in RLC’s meetings, which rotate between Wednesday and Thursday every other week at noon. The next meeting is Oct. 26 at noon in the David E. Herman room.
Interested employees can also email Eovaldi (firstname.lastname@example.org) and request to be put on a committee to participate in if they cannot attend general body meetings.
RLC is taking a trip to Yates Cider Mill on Friday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. Other plans for the organization this semester include a Halloween costume contest, canned food drive and adopt a family.
