The 8th annual Health Plus Brooksie Way kicks off this weekend! Come out and enjoy the Fall weather, as we celebrate healthy lifestyles and a passion for fitness. It’s not too late to register for either the Half Marathon, 10k or 5k. Register before September 24th for a discounted rate. Walkers are welcome as all are encouraged to perform at their own pace.
All three races start and finish on the Meadow Brook Music Festival grounds. The event begins with the Half Marathon at 8:00 a.m. winding through beautiful Rochester nature parks and river trails, followed by the 10k and 5k, coursing through the scenic Oakland University grounds. DJs and live bands will be playing throughout the race, to keep you strong and motivated, through this charitable event.
All proceeds go through the Brooksie Way MiniGrants, which have contributed to more than $50,000 to support the Oakland County Communities.
If you wish to support our runners and be apart of this amazing event, you can always become a volunteer both during the race and at the Fitness Expo.
The Expo is going to be held at Oakland University’s Campus Rec Center. It begins on Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Copious amounts of venders will be there with information on how to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Ranging from sports and nutrition retailers, athletic apparel, training programs, life coaching, weight control, traveling, stress relief and information about cross training sports, yoga, cycling and roller blading, you can find information on whatever your fitness goals and interests are! To avoid long lines and feeling rushed on race day, runners are encouraged to pick up their pre-race packets during the expo as well.
If you missed the expo, pre-race packet distributions and gear-check opens at 6:30 a.m. on race day. Food vendors will open at 7:00 a.m. and will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to all participants. A live band and DJs will be ready to celebrate with you at the finish line along with many other post-race activities.
Come out and gain this experience promoting health and fitness! Whether you are a runner or a volunteer, this will give you a chance to bond and connect with those who share the passion for fitness!
