This weekend is huge for the university. It is Homecoming Weekend, which means the Oakland University community will be flocking to campus events in full. If you’re looking for events to attend, especially ones hosted by our amazing Club Sports, look no further!
Check out Ballroom Dance’s open house from 9 pm – 10:15 pm on Monday, Sept. 14 in the Campus Recreation’s own Studio 919. For the fellas out there, the club has expressed demand for male dance partners to match up their female dancers with. Besides that, it is an excellent sport to get involved with as you never know when you will need to do dances such as the Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba, the list goes on! The Ballroom Dance Club teaches many dances and is open to competitive dancers and learners alike.
Ultimate Frisbee has tryouts on September 16th (9:00 pm – 11:00 pm) and on the 20th (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) at the Upper Fields. They also have open practices for the entire month of September on Sundays (10:00 am – 12:00) and Wednesdays (9:00 pm – 11:00 pm). Ultimate Frisbee is an excellent way for people of all genders to have fun and get actively moving. The Club Football Team is hosting the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers at 4pm, September 19th on Saturday afternoon. OU is defending their national title across the street from the university at the Auburn Hills Civic Center’s athletic fields. Vitality Dance and Winter Guard will be joining them at halftime and both with be doing a performance. WXOU will also be at the game playing music and making announcements for the Football Club.
The Rugby Club is looking to bring their best this weekend for their homecoming weekend match against their top rival, Grand Valley State University. This 80 minute game is a must see for fans and newcomers alike. Playing in the Great Lakes Division II level, our Rugby club is looking to lead the division in their 10th year as a Club Sport here at Oakland University. Kickoff is at 7pm following the Football Club on the 19th.
