Employee Spotlight: Kristin Tencza

Kristin is a junior here at OU, studying Communication. She began working at the Rec Center as a Member Services attendant last August and has enjoyed working here ever since.

Why did you want to work at the Rec?

To get more involved on campus and to contribute to my personal growth as well as the growth of the facility.

What is your favorite part about working here?

Being able to work with exceptional co-workers and being immersed in an all-inclusive, loving, and caring environment. I like being able to work in an environment that I am passionate about.

What transferrable skills have you acquired that will help you in your future?

I have improved my communicative skills while working here. I have gained leadership skills and acquired problem solving skills.

What are your favorite Rec activities?

GroupEx and RLC (obviously RLC, I love RLC!). I also love the professional development series.

What GroupEx classes have you taken?

Dance Strength Combo, Tabata, Zumba, Yoga, AGT, and Total Body Sculpt.

When you’re not at the Rec, what are some things you like to do?

I love to read, I love to meditate, and I love to run and work out.

What are you reading right now?

The Master Key System.

How do you stay active and healthy?

I stay motivated through my spiritual work and I work out everyday – I also run.

How did you choose Communication as your major?

I am very passionate about helping and inspiring others and because I believe I have finely tuned communicative skills.

What are you looking forward to?

The future! Everything about the future I’m looking forward to.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I have taken seven years of piano lessons.
