Men’s Soccer Wins Season Title, Looks to Win League Title Next Year

Our men’s soccer club snagged the season title this last fall having placed higher than teams like University of Michigan Flint, Saginaw Valley, Washtenaw Community College, University of Michigan Ann Arbor, and Hillsdale University.

Club President, Jordan Parks, attributes the title win to “picking up points in a lot of our early games …[T]hat gave us momentum to carry us through the rest of the year”.

After the season is over, there is a league title decided through a four team, one day playoff tournament. This year, Oakland won their first season title, but later lost to Saginaw Valley for the league title.

“For the majority of the guys [the season title] builds a great foundation to keep moving forward and it also makes us hungry to win the league title at the end of the year” says Parks. Regardless of the loss for the league title, Parks explains, “this is a good start if we were to move on to a more prominent league in the future”.

The team looks to continue this momentum from last fall to this year by hosting a tournament on campus “and inviting a couple league and non-league teams out in the spring” Parks discloses.
