Club Sports Graduate Assistant

Sarah has been at The Rec for one year now. As the Club Sports Graduate Assistant, she works with all the club sport student organization leaders. She assists with marketing and making sure all the 24 club sports have the proper funding.

When Sarah first got the job, all forms for club sports were paper. She saw a need to “get with the times” and made all forms electronic through GrizzOrgs. This made communication and keeping track of all the information much easier. She also increased accountability by really making sure all club sports are complying with university policies.

Sarah is also the MIRSA (Michigan Intramural Recreational Sports Association) State Student Representative. She ran for the position because there weren’t a lot of development opportunities for students through MIRSA. Her goal is to get students more involved. She is creating a blog that she hopes  to have up and running in the fall for students from all across the state to post about their experiences working in campus recreation

Favorite part about working at the Rec?

“The environment – it’s always very positive and a fun place to work. I also really like working with students.”

Favorite Rec activities?

Sarah likes playing intramurals like soccer! “I’m excited for the World Cup to start in a few days.”

Skills you’ve learned at the Rec that will help you with future endeavors?

“Collaboration and communication.”

Fun Fact:

“I’m obsessed with ‘Song of Ice and Fire’ (Game of Thrones is based on it).”
