Attention Oakland University Employees!
It’s almost time for Outdoor Summer Yoga! Starting June 12, Oakland University employees are invited to come to the Rock Garden at Meadow Brook Hall to rejuvenate and reenergize before the work day begins with yoga at 6:30am.
It is no cost to attend and all fitness levels are welcome. This program is meant to help you start your day right.
Meet your instructor: Jonathan Mann (an Oakland University employee in the First Year Advising Center) has been practicing yoga since 2008. He received is RYT-200 certification through Red Lotus Yoga in Rochester.
We asked Jonathan what Oakland University employees can expect from his program. He said, “I am very excited to start the program! This will be an all-levels slow flow yoga class (no hand stands or levitating involved!) for individuals that are looking for a great way to start their workday. I am designing each week’s flow to wake up and open up the body, and also to awaken and calm the mind. My goal is that each individual that comes will be able to cultivate a deeper connection with their body, their mind, and learn to become more present. All of which will help to improve not only their work environment but their daily lives as well! I encourage anyone who hasn’t yet signed up to do so! All you need to bring is yourself and your breath…and a yoga mat if you have one!”
Participants should bring a towel, water bottle, your Grizz ID, and a yoga mat. There will be a limited number of mats available for you to borrow for the duration of the class, but we do recommend you bring your own!
In case of inclement weather, class will be moved indoors to the Recreation Center.
This class begins Thursday June 12 at 6:30am and continues every Thursday through July 31. We encourage you to sign up and start your day off right with some outdoor yoga. Sign up at http://www.oakland.edu/campusrec/employee-wellness. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!
