Vitality Dance: More Than Meets The Eye

With over 60 years of experience between the E-board members, Vitality Dance is a serious competitive dance group. Having won High Gold medals in previous competitions in categories such as Lyrical and Hip-Hop and placing in the top ten overall, Vitality looks to bring home the Platinum medal at their two major competitions this semester.

Vitality is going to Ann Arbor for The Michigan Dance Team Competition on March 6th.

“We’re expecting more collegiate teams at this competition”, says Vitality Vice President Dana Borza.

Vitality Dance is heading to Dearborn on March 22nd and 23rd for the West Coast Dance Explosion.“Our other competition will have a mix of collegiate teams and dance studio teams. Some of the dance studio teams will have varying ages and girls that practice a few hours every day”, says Secretary Kristen Brown.

Not only is Vitality Dance a successful competitive dance group, but they also promote art and dance in the area this includes becoming a host of an annual showcase bringing in other dance studios, musicians, students from Oakland University’s Dance Program and even OU’s own A Cappella group, Gold Vibrations.

Vitality Dance hosts auditions in the summer. They’re looking for individuals who have experience with dancing and who want to grow and develop as a dancer. To be a part of Vitality Dance you need to be able to “turn, have basic skills, and technique” says Special Events Director Tara Doane. “You need dedication, perseverance” President Nicole Borden adds.
