Winter might be here, but if you’re an outdoor runner in need of some company in the cold, then check out Oakland’s Running Club.
Active for three years now, the Running Club is a great way to meet new people who share the love of running. Club President, David Hendren, says the club has shrunk by a few members since the weather changed, so there are always new spots available for runners.
“We usually do runs around campus and meet by the indoor track in the Rec,” Hendren said.
“Also we do some fun runs including the Hogsback in Ortonville and the Bloomer Boogie in Rochester Hills.”
Active in the fall and winter semesters, the club is relatively small, but dedicated – as most runners are. The club does long distance running between three and six miles each session.
At the end of the winter, when you finish exams and need some relief, you can celebrate with the club in their Easter festivities.
“We usually do a scavenger hunt for Easter, and a race. But which race is still to be determined,” Hendren said.
Anyone can join the club. If you’re interested, show up for one of the club’s runs, or email Hendren at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It may be cold out there with the snow and ice, but it is a good way to get back in shape for the new year!
