Biggest Loser 2014 Challenge

Are you ready to change how you feel and how you live your life? Apply for the Rec Center’s 2014 Biggest Loser Challenge! This program is designed to provide extra motivation and encouragement for people who are seriously ready to take control of their health. Participants will work with a personal trainer twice a week (in a group training setting) and receive weekly education in the areas such as nutrition and stress management.

This program seeks participants who are serious about improving their physical and mental wellness. So do you have the motivation and readiness to change? Here’s what you should know:

History of the Program at OU

The Biggest Loser Challenge was launched at OU in winter semester 2012 after it was found that many personal training inquiries came from people who needed help losing weight and feeling better about themselves. Many of these clients were also looking for a group setting so they could have extra motivation during their weight loss journey. As a result, with the help and input from colleagues who run similar programs at their universities, the Biggest Loser Challenge was created. The program, taking place this year in the winter 2014 semester, fits perfectly into New Year’s Resolution plans.

Will You See Results?

According to the program’s creator Rachelle Winkler, participants who put in the work (this includes outside of their group training times) and also really watch what they eat,  will absolutely see success in the program. First place winners in the past have lost 50+ pounds and second place finishers have lost 30+ pounds during the 12-week program. These participants, however, were exceptional examples of people who put in the time and effort to make the program work for them. Potential participants should expect to obtain clearance from their physician, answer essay questions, and come in for a personal interview. Even after all of that, only a select handful of highly-motivated people are chosen to participate in the program.
